Smoothie Full of Antioxidants & Healthy Fats
I have to admit I just love my food. When preparing for my next meal, l am ways considering what healthy nutrients can I add to this meal today. Once you transition from processed foods to a healthy diet you will find that your body will crave and love the healthy stuff and you will feel much more satisfied.
One of my breakfast options is a good nutritious smoothie. When making smoothies at this stage I don’t need to follow any recipe. Having to look up recipes all the time may become an obstacle and a reason not to include it in your daily routine. There are other people who just love to follow a recipe, it just depends on the person.
The most important thing is to make sure you use organic ingredients.
Berries are the most potent anti-cancer fruits
Only include berries as your fruit option if you are choosing a low-glucose diet. Berries can protect and repair damage from oxidative stress and inflammation. My supermarkets supply frozen organic berries, I put both frozen and fresh berries in my smoothie every day.
The following ingredients make for a good smoothie, choose one or two from each section and experiment to see what you prefer:
Hope you enjoy my Healthy Berry Recipe
Ingredients
- ½ avocado
- 1 banana (can be frozen)
- A handful of spinach or kale
- Fresh or frozen blueberries
- 1 tablespoon of pumpkins
- 8 Macadamia nuts
- 1/2 teaspoon organic cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon of raw cacao powder
Method
- Blend the ingredients except for the nuts with almond milk, the amount of milk depends on what consistency you like it to be.
- Chop the nuts and sprinkle on top.
- Serve with fresh berries or other fruits of your choice.
The blender I recommend is a Vitamix, it is powerful enough to blend frozen fruit, it is more expensive than the normal blenders but over time it is well worth the investment.
Another option is a Nutribullet, I even take the Nutribullet on holidays with me so that I can enjoy my healthy smoothie every morning.
